Ding on AC Compressor Pulley

Got this remanned AC Compressor today and it has a small ding on the outer edge of the pulley. Question is, do I send it back for a replacement or just file the sharp edges down and call it good? Will this small ding be any problem later down the road as far as belt wear etc?

Just file it smooth. You'll be fine.

File it smooth so it doesn't nick the belt and install. Not worth the hassle of exchanging.

Well, with the opinion of the 3 well respected members who have responded so far and a couple friends' advice at home, I will just file it down and call it a day. I didn't think it would be a big deal since the ding is not that big. Thanks guys...I hold you all accountable if the belt shreds though

No need to return for sure. Will not hurt anything. As the others stated, just file down and use it. If it was the clutch that had that hit on the other hand, then I would say send it back.

File it, run it. You have pictures of the before in case it took a hard enough hit to bend the shaft. Run the **** out of it to ensure that there are no defects.

Wouldn't the ding qualify as a defect?

That pulley should be riding on a bearing attached to body of the pump. There should be no damage done. Run it, if it is damaged beyond a small ding then return it.
