will a 5th gen alternator fit a 4th? specifically a 99?
I have a spare fifth gen alternator and one of my fourth gens (99 I30) needs an alternator, the spare is from a 2001.

my concern is, i know the body and amps are the same mostly, but are the pulleys the same?

I hear they're good for about .0001hp increase when used with super unleaded fuel.

Anyways they are identical i couldn't figure out why they used different part numbers for the same thing.

Sorry for the old bump but will a 5.5gen alternator be a direct bolt on for a 4th gen?

Yes. All 5th gen years will fit the 4th gen.

I put 5.5 gen alternator in my 5th gen, so I don't see why not.
