My car is cutting out when I get on it

My 99 max with the 5 speed has been cutting out when I pin the pedal to the floor since I put my cold air intake on. The car also has a fart cannon and high flow cat. Has anybody else had this problem or have an idea why it's doing it? And how to fix it without goin back to the stock system?

Cutting out? Do you mean it doesn't want to go, or it dies? I'm assuming you reset the computer after the CAI install, or took the battery out while doing it?

Cuts out as in spits and sputters. It doesn't die and it's only between 3000 and 4500 rpm. And yes I had the battery disconnected while I installed everything

+1. Make sure all your clamps are tight. Any codes showing?

Clamps are tight and the only code is po420 which is a cat code and didn't come on until after the cat was installed (a couple weeks after the CIA)

Id try going back to stock and see if the problem persists if that's the only thing you did before it started acting up. Just to rule out the CAI.

Yup. CAI should't have caused it. But I wouldn't think the high flow cat would cause it either. All that does is give you a check engine light. The rear O2 sensor picks up there's something different with how it operates, but it doesn't affect the cars performance in any way.

It's probably the MAF. Did something get on it when you had it out of the car? If dirt gets on the sensor inside it will mess it up, but won't necessarily throw a code. That, or the MAF has a cold solder and coincidentally started acting up after the CAI.

It's a new Maf but ill see if I got dirt on it during install and if its still happening I guess I'll try throwing the stock intake system back in and see what happens. I'm almost wondering if it isn't getting too much air with not enough fuel though which means I get to run larger injectors so no complaints there haha. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll let y'all know how it goes in a few days or so

One more question. Is it aftermarket MAF, or OEM?

It's an oem replacement. Where could I find an aftermarket one?

You don't want aftermarket. They're junk. Was just making sure that wasn't the problem.

O. No it is an oem replacement. I bought a Maf and throttle body cleaning kit today so I will probably do that later tonight

since it's started happening right after you did something, retrace your steps.
