How would i know if I need new rotors?
Tomorrow im getting new brake pads in the front and its running me about $90 installed. The reason bieng is im hearing a rubbing or ticking noise, as if the sensor is telling me my brakes are low. I just hope i don't need new rotors cuz i can't afford them right now.

wow 90 bucks for front brakes. i put brakes on a few dif cars and the max was the easiest. like 25 bucks for lifetime pads and took me like a half hour to do em. buy a service manual and do it yourself and save some money, its worth it

Folks....don't make this any more difficult than it needs to be. If the young man doesn't have the money to get the brakes done, then his best option is to do it himself. The front brake pads are very easily changed, and while doing it he can just pull the rotors off and take them to the local shop to have them turned. They may charge like $10-20 a piece to do it and he comes back and puts them on. Lifetime pads from auto parts are usually about $25 and the whole job can be done without much effort for around $75 at most. The brake shop is going to try and make their money by telling him his rotors suck, his calipers suck, and his brake pads suck, that's their job to make money. Unless he has serious brake problems, i.e. bad calipers or completely shot rotors, this is not a real big project. A floor jack, towers, and an hour or two and the job is done and better yet probably better than if you pay someone to do it. If your in GA, let me know and you can come over to the house and I'll help ya. Good luck.

Not a specific brand, just call your local auto parts store and get a price for pads for the the car. If they are offered, they will ask you if you want cheapo pads for like $10 or the lifetime ones for $25. I had good experience from an auto parts store called AutoZone here in GA. I bought lifetime pads for another car I had. I have not paid for a set of pads for that car since 1999. I just take them the pads in the box, the worn out ones, and they go to the shelf and hand me a new set and I go home and put on the new ones. Not a penny charged. That sometimes is rare because most "lifetime" warranties have a lot of fine print B.S. so beware.
