B-pipe, What does it do?

What does a b pipe do and where does it go? Can you have one in conjunction with a y pipe? What gains can one expect from this mod? any help would be appreciated. thanks

Trust me, an O-Pipe is what you really need.

Forget Y and B.

An O-pipe might help low end torque, but it will hamper you on your high end. You need exhaust gases to move freely out your vehical in order for you to have a nice high end gain. Get a B-pipe it allows for air to move more freely. Just like alot of mods you sacrifice little low end torque for a drastic improvement in high end gains. My .02

The B pipe is the piece of exhaust after the Catalytic Convertor and before the muffler..

Just make sure the b-pipe you get/make is mandrel bent....there are some nasty crimps and a resonator in the stock b-pipe so it hinders flow a bit. I have the **cough** Stealin' b-pipe and while I cannot attest to their customer service, their pipe is very well made and fits perfectly. $$ though...

Factory B-pipes also include a resonator, which is kinda like an extra muffler (looks like a tubular glass-pack muffler). Some aftermarket include a resonator, some don't. Some people just remove the resonator at a muffler shop. If you do remove the resonator though, expect the car to be louder and possibly even obnoxious if you get an performance muffler. Keep it if you want to quiet things down.

Is it possible to remove the resonator and keep the stock muffler to get a better sound? Would removing it do anything for sound even?

Um, are you serious?? Did you even look at the O-pipe, and how EVERYTHING else on that website is meant to be a joke, and not a real modification?

That link above is one of the funniest websites I've seen in a long long time! Mad props to whoever put it up!!!

B-pipe goes from your catalytic converter to your muffler. If you get a y-pipe straight pipe b-pipe and a aftermarket muffler you should feel some gain but still that's not much you would need a intake and some other components to feel some gain.

hey Sprint, what's it do to the sound characteristics though (more growl, etc)? Any droning at certain RPM like w/ performance mufflers?

I wouldn't mind if my car sounded tougher but not any louder.

B-pipe is the pipe between the back-sode of the cat & it runs all the way to the front of the muffler.

Do not expect much gains unless you are running a S/C or Nitrous.

Do expect a increase in noise level as the resonator is removed.

Stillen & Courtesy make B-pipes. THe Stillen is a 2 piece design. The Courtesy is a 1 piece but has a "S" crimp in it & has a smaller resonator. You decide.
