Fix defroster lines or replace rear windshield?

My defroster lines are sliced from me removing the awful tint years ago. Now, Im starting to wish they worked.

Should I replace the rear windshield or use one of the defroster line repair kits available to try and fix my defroster lines?

Thanks,
Matt

To give you a price estimate the rear windshield on my 98 MAX was replaced last summer for $276. It is tinted with the rear defroster and Bose antenna. My auto insurance comprehension paid for it.
