transmission, torque convertor or motor mounts?
Been awhile since ive been on this forum due to selling all 3 of my maximas due to financial issues but heres the scoop... recently bought another 4gen...car drove like a champ for the first 3 days after purchase...then transmission starts slipping and I get the trans error code for the tcu...replaced that and no slippage...no code...3 weeks later transmission completely goes out or so I think...car seems to be stuck in either 2nd or 3rd and I have no reverse and car tries to move in neutral also come to find out I have 2 bad motor mounts...lower rear and left...any ideas what could be my issue org members before I go worst case scenario and replace transmission? Also anyone in NC willing to meet me at a Pull it yard if I do have to pull a tranny lol?? You will be compensated for ur time.

I never knew that...but my issue is for this car to have such low mileage...hell all my prior maximas had way more miles then this current one and I never had tranny issues what so ever out of any of them...hell I only had to replace a motor in my 89 after 310k due to lost compression over age and time. This car baffles me.

That's because you bought a grandmas car that never saw hard usage. Cars like that have seals that leak oil and weird problems. Your trans was never driven the way you drive and when you did it died. Should've done a full trans drain and fill with amsoil synthetic atf and put a b&m trans cooler on it.

For it to go out on me completely after only 3 weeks of owning it...me buying all that to put on it would've been a waste seein as it was already on its last leg...I guess I just sped up the process lol...I don't really wanna keep the car cuz it has given me bad vibes since this tranny issue arised...god knows what else might be on the fritz lol

Yea I'm slowly but surely getting back into re learning my Maxima's...with the low mileage on it it would be wise to keep it...I want a 5th gen badly tho Lol...well I'm gonna be tackling the tranny swap this weekend...any tips or suggestions on how to make this go smoothly? Or any steps how to swap without having to follow a manual exactly?

It's so simple a caveperson could do it. Get the wheels off so you can remove the axle nuts. Pull of the axles. Bust the trans bolts theres like 12 or 14 I forget. Put a floor jack under the trans and let it down on the ground. Pour fluid into the new torque convertor before you put it in. Jack the trans up, wiggle it, just a little bit, stick it in, bolt it in, fill with amsoil synthetic atf, and you drive hard so get a cooler. Easy breezy. I did it like that with basic hand tools. My indian neighbor came out laughing taking pics to send back to india to show how we does it in america. I used a 2x4 piece of wood laid across the inner fender rails and some rope and another 2x4 from the firewall to the front which can be a crafty lift since I didn't even have floor jacks back then. I used the oem scissor jacks for everything. If there's a will, there's a way. People got lifts and tools and can't fix stuff.
