car stalls when going into gear
I have a 99 maxima. First one ive owned.I had ignition issues with is since I got the car,but upon reading this forum I see that is a common issue. I put a push button starter set up in it as a quick fix. I disconnected the plug from the harness after I tied into it bcuz the car was still engaging the started with the plug still hooked up. Now the new issue is when my wife went to drive it this morning, the car started up just fine,it idled low and rough and as soon as she put it in gear it stalled out(automatic tranny) last week when she would run the a/c the car would act like it wanted to stall out at lower speeds and at stops. I disconnected the maf sensor and it is idling just fine now,but still stalling. Im sure the maf sensor is the culprit, but could there be another sensor or vacumm setup that is causing this issue?

I replaced the maf sensor, cleaned the iac valve and still the same issues. If I double foot it I can keep it running, still stalled out a couple times though. Also the maf sensor had a good amount of oil in it,as well as the rest of the intake tube... im at a lost with this. All vacumm hoses are attached, had autozone pull up the codes, and it was the intake temp sensor and maf sensor showing up. This was after I put on the new maf sensor and cleaned the iac valve. Any other suggestions?

I had this issue before by trans blew up. '99 SE automatic. I read something about the DR drop resistor being bad but I don't remember if that had anyhting to do with it and I'm not going to do your research for you since I won't be using my automatic's anymore. But what I had to do was hold the revs a little and drop it into reverse to back out when it happened. So check the drop resistor and make sure your torque convertor is working properly. I had this weird sensation that it was stuck in gear after that and I'd always baby it when driving off from a stop and I'd manually shift up to help it out. If you think I was racing it you misunderstood my post. The drop resistor is under the hood on the drivers side shock tower. It's tiny and you probably never noticed it. It's right at the top. I never got to check mine because differential pin sheared and blew out a hole so I swapped in a rebuilt trans. Only put about 10k miles on it. I have that and another older used oem trans if anyones trans goes. I even tried changing all the solenoids in the trans before it blew and nothing changed. The weird thing was that when I put in the new trans it worked perfect. So perhaps it was a internal issue. This is yet to be resolved but I've noticed it becoming more prevalent on the forum. Good luck.

Ok thanks for that info, ill look into that this weekend. I had another guy tell me it could be a clogged fuel filter or bad injector. Looks like I got my work cut out for me, once again I appreciate it
