headers/y-pipe advice

need some advice on what to use for headers/y on my VQ30.

Im doing an 00vi shortly and eventually SC.
I have a high flow cat, 3" SS tubing from MES w/ 80mm APEXi NOIR enroute....but getting nervous...as i dont have anything in place for headers/y
yet.

Any suggestions?

not sure if the OBX VQ30 is worth it? i hear the HP gains are minimal....and cant find the VQ35s to mod

might just go w/ a warspeed Y as last resort?

appreciate it!

Where are you located? Do you have emissions tests in your state?

I installed a WS Y-pipe with Magnaflow High-Flow cat (also from WS) this spring. I would say that mod brought more bang for the buck than anything I've done do date outside of a bunch of suspension mods..

The OBX VQ30 headers are ok, its the y pipe that they come with that does not line up. You can either cut and weld the y pipe to fit or chop the y pipe off and make a new one. As long as you're in there, it wouldn't hurt to add an o2 sensor bung to the front (bank 2) header where the o2 sensor can reach.

Does your warpspeed sound raspy/ricey?

thanks - Im crazy busy with work and dont have the time for the custom work - Im taking time off to do my 00vi....this doesnt seem worth the effort when I can get 15-20hp with the bolt on warpspeed Y....assuming it doesnt sound like a rice-rider

The WS alone is not so bad. I have a high-flow cat with a glass pack and straight pipe with a silencer. If the silencer is out -- no doubt it is loud. The silencer makes it cool for around town. Fortunately, the V6 sounds better than the typical 4-cyl ricer. I've listened to some youtube vids of Maxima's with a Y-pipe setup and stock resonators that has a nice deep tone.
