those cars that come with the option of driving automatic or manual? I saw a commercial the other day, can't remember if it was a Lexus or a BMW, that had it. Because of the option of being able to do either, would you lose the benefits of having a manual when driving in manual mode? (ie, would you be faster than the same car with just a manual, considering everything else is equal like shifting ability?) Just food for thought and curiosity on my part. I always thought it would be neat to have an automatic for everyday cruising etc., then to be able to switch to manual when feeling sporty. That raises another question, I wonder if those cars with both have a lot more transmission problems. Next question, would you like to see it offered on the Maxima?

yeah its its pretty koo to be able to switch to the manual mode but it still not the same as a convencional manual tranny. i had the chance to drive a 00 Prelude and a 01 BMW 330. they both had the
auto/manual transmissions. the prelude wasn't as impressive because the lag between shifts was to long. couldn't really benifit from being able to shift the gears manually. plus there was only 4 gears.
the BMW was a different story. 330 have a 5 spd auto tranny so i had 5 gears to work with. plus the manual mode on the BMW had a more percise shift. meaning there was almost no lag when i was shifting it. this made it easier to down shift into turns at a higher speed. made that beemer screem. very nice car.

Gotta remember its not a *real* manual still tho, there is no clutch and that ever so slight lag will eventually annoy you.
