i think i have an idea of what you talking about... but that Maxima isn't an SE.. SE's are sports editions. Special Editions were cosmtically hooked up Gxe's... completely different thing... and no Special Editions didn't have foglights..

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought all SEs have fogs, while GXEs and GLEs don't.

The guy might think he's selling you an SE, but he's probably selling you a GXE or GLE, unless the fogs were removed from the car. Check for chrome window trim/door handles/front grille, a third brake light, and black gauge faces. If these exist, you're not buying an SE. However, if the car has a spoiler and no thrid brake light in back window and 5 spoke alloy wheels, then youve got an SE. Some guys try passing off GXEs or GLEs as SEs because they know people want them...dont be fooled.

I think you can check from the VIN...but I can't remember how exactly. Let me see if I can find the info.

In answer to your Q ... I am 99.9% sure that the SE (Sports Edition) came with fogs especially if it is a '98 edition

Found it. Ask for the VIN:

To ID an SE: Look at the silver tag on the passenger side of the firewall behind ur engine. Look at the line under ur VIN. If the 6th letter is V then U have an SE, my friend. IF not, it's a GLE or GXE - read the FAQs for fuller description.

Special Edition? Do you mean Limited edition? I thought those were only 99's. Look for White gauges.
