charging issue

i have a 99 maxima. last week while driving i was smelling something electrical burning. the car eventually died on the road. i let it sit for over an hour and it started up again like nothing went wrong.worked fine all week then the car battery died again on the road. roadside assistance said it was not get a full charge from the alternator. i bought a new battery and alternator. i was noticing a fluctuation in the power( lights dimming then getting bright) then the battery eventually drained out. i'd appreciate any ideas on what i'm dealing with. i'm thinking wire harness for the alternator to the battery is no good.

Sounds like a faulty alternator to me. Are your brake and battery lights on when your start the car?
