Changing to MT-90

Im gonna go ahead and order the oil tomorrow and when I go and change it, is it easy at changing motor oil or more steps ??
I cant wait to do the change...its gonna feel so much better to shift, well from what I heard..

It's 4 1/2 qts exactly right ? When I funnel it into the trans from the top, Do I add 4 1/2 qts or till it overflows ?? ..I know on my jeep I used to fill till it ran out over the fill hole >>> please someone help...I am clueless

and yes I did the search and sometimes it doesn't work

Look at maximadriver.com in the HOW TO section. It goes through it step by step.

It's not too hard to change. It is 4 1/2 quarts. Fill it until it overflows. Get a funnel with about 4' of 1/2" tubing attached, and just go slow.

In my opinion, the hardest part of the entire procedure was finding the damn drain plug. I wasn't smart enough to take pictures. Basically, lie right under the transmission, feet coming out under the front of the car. The drain plug looks like an ordinary bolt going into the side of the transmission from the right. The head is towards the passenger side. Start it with a wrench, then put your pan under there and finger screw it the rest of the way out. Once you have it drained, you're home free. Takes about an hour even if you're an idiot like me.

And go get the instructions that the previous poster mentioned.

I agree. Once you find the drain plug your golden. That was the hardest part for me.

Yes. 4.5 quarts

Plus, 2 things not mentioned.

You need a 1/2" ratchet for the fill plug.
Also, when you over-fill it, put the car down to level ground, and let the extra spill out.

I was expecting more of a difference than it actually made, but I had high expectations. This is my first winter with my Max so I don't know what it felt like cold on the factory fill. But it feels exactly the same now as it did in the fall, and that's something I've never experienced in another vehicle. Shifts are nice and quick, and you'll notice it's possible to shift into lower gears easier, like into first at 10-15mph.

In all, it's worth the money and time.

I remember doing mine 2 summers ago. When I 1st drove the car, I thought my tranny was falling apart! It was so loose compared to stock gear oil. Without a doubt you won't regret putting MT-90 in yor gearbox.

When it gets really cold, the stock shifter feels like you are churning thick butter. Hasn't gotten really cold this winter but you definitely can feel that it is much looser.
