SCORED THAT '95 SE for $3800 !!

I got a great deal. Just came back from the guys house with the keys after dropping off the check. This car is in excellent condition mechanically, looks great inside and out. 5 spd, 164k, white w/tan cloth interior. Bone stock. Which mods are first? Only $3800!

SCORE!!!

I'm going to begin adding things slowly. First is the window tint and Super White headlights. Which brand/style has worked best for you 4th Gen owners?

Good luck with it bro.

It all depends on what you want first performance or handleing:

Performance: CAI, Y-Pipe, Cat-back
Handleing : Fstb, RSB, Springs/struts <---will be lower with aftermarket springs...
Any questions, post away. we all learn by asking questions

I pulled 14.8s out of a stock max at 110K miles. Now I'm at 119K. I wonder how long its been since this car had plugs changed and injectors cleaned....

I don't care how many miles it has on it, you can't beat that with a stick.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. Yeah, I thought it was a great deal too. And the kicker is that the guy really took care of the car, it is in excellent shape. It looks brand new. I'll post pics this weekend.

Ok I really can't understand non-performance mods much to begin with, but putting mods on a new "used" car with 164K miles seem absolutely ridiculous..

I think I'd spend the money on my children, nieces/nephews, or mother first...

Or wait, maybe a wiser idea would be to spend the extra cash to get a car with fewer miles!

Oh, if it was such a great deal then I'd resell it for a profit and get one with lower miles.

Unless you got a Toyota Cressida engine in there I'd be worried..

A Cressida engine? Are you implying the Nissan motor won't hold up? I'm not worried about the motor at all, all my research indicates these motors are rock solid. As far as the money issue, my goal was to obtain a relatively inexpensive used car to improve my financial position (sell and pay off my current car and end up with less debt). Buying this car at this price achieved that goal. I'm going to slowly improve upon this car with tasteful mods (most will be performance oriented). What's wrong with that?

Whoa! What's your problem? Let the guy have some fun with his car! Why be worried about his engine? Engines CAN be rebuilt ! in any case, these engines should last a LOOOOOONG time if they've been looked after.

My personal preference is to go with performance mods first. Still, let him do what he wants! Shhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!

Ok I'm sorry... He said tasteful so that is cool. There have been a lot of links circulating to pics of some outrageously hideous rides out there and I'd hate to see his Max(or any Max) in that list..

In response to his original question :P, I had to go with a harness upgrade because xenon ruined the original harness....but I went with Krypton showoff bulbs, and all my friends are jealous. you can buy them from a guy off of ebay for about 25 for the pair... it looks real white and nice.

WOW! You got a great deal! Hey, does yours have leather seat, too? I got mines for 4200(1995 Nissan Maxima SE) with leather seat. My inside need some cleaning up though. Speaking of which, does anyone know a good way to remove carpet stain on Maxima. I have tried to use the carpet cleaning but that doesn't seem to work. Maybe I have to use a better product. Any suggestion?

I don't have the leather, kind of wish I did though. Mine has gray cloth. Not sure about the carpets. Maybe some kind of bleach type of cleaner? Maybe they have one specifically for automotive carpets? Or you could get some new ones. How many miles on yours when you got it? $4200 is a great deal too. I love mine, so far no problems.

So far no problems and I don't expect to have any. I've got a good buddy who has a '95 SE w/160k on it too and his also runs extremely well. As long as you take care of them and do the routine maintenance they should run for a long time. The guy mentioned above previously had a '87 Integra and it went to 240k before he sold it. Last I heard the buyer was still driving it. Some cars are built to last.

The guy at CarMax guaranteed me my car would give me no problems up to 300k so long as I keep up with the maintenance. (I don't think racers count tho)
