Which front caliper slide pin?
Which front caliper slide pin?
Autozone website lists the "all metal" type like I've seen on every car I've owned.

Autozone in-store system lists a different part number which one pin has a notch near the end that a plastic/rubber sleeve goes over. I've never seen this before, but that's what the parts guy says I should use.

So one for the "standard" slide pins and one for the sleeved pins...
my brain says putting that plastic sleeve in the chamber means it might break apart and cause a bind. Has anyone seen this?

Every caliper I've dealt with had one of each. The plastic bushed one trails. It is intended to reduce brake noise I believe.

Irrelevant. Whether Bosch or not, the plastic (rubber really) bushing is a better design and the norm, and would be the better choice. If you like loud brakes then by all means go metal on metal.

Not arguing, but it is relevant. Different caliper/braket designs may have different guide pins.
Just looking at the FSM, there is no sleeve. Looking at AdvanceAuto, not sleeve. Looking at Autozone's website, no sleeve. Only the in-store computer lists the sleeve.
I posted because of the twenty or so cars, domestic and foreign, I've done disc brake jobs on, I've never seen pins with sleeves. I'm OK if it's a redesign and applicable for STOCK calipers and brackets.
My concern is that Autozone is pushing this design because it appears to be what their caliper kit uses. And that the sleeve will break apart causing problems with travel of the pin.

For the twenty years I've been working on cars, including dealer and Indy employment I have seen enough bushed pins that I would not worry about it. If a bushed pin was available I would use it, they don't fall apart.
Maxima's don't come with coilovers and and HID projectors, is that reason enough not to install them?
