Power...

SO the amp isn't constantly on. It can only be on, when the car is on.

oh yeah. I remember i hooked it up on my older cars to the power on the radio. It went on and off with that. Also since it was hooked up to the radio when it was off so was the power.

yeah, but make sure you dont hook it to the CONSTANT 12V power wire going to the cd player, this would cause it to be always on. i think there should be a remote turn on wire - in most cases it will be a blue and white wire

correct me if im wrong

Adding Subs and amp...
I have the remote going to the wrong blue wire, Its stays on constantly. I'm goin tap it to the other blue wire and see what I get. The Amp is in the trunk, so I had to run a wire up to the dash. the power and groud are all ok, and connected good. Fused off, distribution block, etc, just didn't want to hit the wrong wire for the remote, which happened anyway!
Thanks,

Phantom

You can also use a "key on" wire or a power ant sig wire.

Are you using an aftermarket HU? Or the stock one? And you can leave the tap hooked up where you have it now if you want. You just need to intall an on off switch in lione somewhere and then remember to flip it off when you're not using it. It's pretty simple to do. E-amil me if you decide to do it and need help.

Just use a testlight. Any wire that has power with the ignition in acc and on will work.
