Anyone installed/added a rear sway bar from a 5th gen into the 4th gen?

I have a 5th gen parts car and was wondering if it's worth it.

 

If it's a Stillen or Progress RSB then it should swap right over.

 

I am looking at the 1996 I30 FSM and the 2000 Maxima FSM and both don't come with a factory rear sway bar.


The 2000 Maxima parts car that I have had a Stillen front tower strut brace and I remember seeing a rear sway bar when jacking up the rear to swap the wheels. I thought the rear sway bar was a factory one.


I hope it'll swap over to my 1996 I30 as you say.

This is weird...the 2nd time this has come up, but yes, the 4th and 5th gen have an OEM RSB built into the beam.


The factory OEM rear sway bar is not easily visible. It's a big bar inside the multi-link beam. What you were looking at was probably the aftermarket progress or Stillen RSB.

 

You mean that large bar that's attaching both struts is a sway bar

That's crazy! That's like the definition of a sway bar man, no way, you're insane!!!

 

I removed the Stillen rear sway bar and installed it on my 1996.

I also swapped the Stillen front strut brace too.

^^fits 95-01 so safe to assume it will fit.
You should probably buy new hardware and bushings for it while you're there.

 

The Stillen RSB makes a nice upgrade to the OEM suspension. If your car is on H&Rs or Eibachs or any other aftermarket, lowered suspension, however, being careful taking hard corners. You will more fully understand when we say "the car has a hot tail" or "snap oversteer."
