I got ripped off by another org member and I am now stuck with a broken ECU.

Rather then cut my losses and throw the ECU away, does anyone know if there is a company that can do repairs on it?

It throws a lot of emissions related DTCs.

I swapped my original ECU back, and the only DTCs I have is in regards to the missing auto trans (I am 5spd swapped).

Also,

I want to get rid of the CEL on my automatic 1996 ECU.

Can you please tell me what year(s) 5spd ECUs I can use with no modifications?

What exactly is broken with the ecu? And who was the org member? If you used the paypal buyer option you could file a claim.

What codes do you have exactly?

If you want codes to be gone, you will need to fix the problems causing them. The only ecu that is a direct swap would be another 96' auto ecu. You could use most other auto ecus, but

The Cardone Company has a repair/rebuild and return program.

https://www.cardone.com/products/electronics

FWIW and if needed they also provide/stock rebuilt ECUs for the 4th Gen Maxima.

You probably did not get ripped off you just did not know what ECU to buy. Lemme guess you have a 96 I30 and you put a 96 maxima ECU in it right? Well a 96 I30 emissions equipment is actually off of a 95 maxima so you have to use a 95s ECU. Nothing is wrong with the ECU you just bought the wrong ECU. You can use the 96 ECU it will work just fine until you have to get the car inspected. read thread:

Out of curiousity, would a 95 cali spec work with a 96' i30? Or is the emissions fed spec based? Or is it a super secret squirrel early 95' production?

no cali spec cars had different emissions equipment because cali is ****. the later fed cars came basically 95 cali spec. But cali spec is a different can of worms all together. fed spec 95 ECUs are just where its at. Basically they are 4th gens with absolutely no emissions equipment period.

Anyone know who can do ECU repair?
Thank you for the link.

Hmmmm...... My I30 does have the EGR, which is emissions related.

So anyone confirmed that a 5spd 1995 Maxima ECU will get rid of my DTC/CEL (auto trans) and not cause anymore CEL(unless there is a real problem)?
