Thoughts about Dorman Mass Air Flow?
Hello all maxima drivers,
My maxima is vq20de,I need to change mass air flow meter but the original one is too much expensive. So I want to buy aftermarket but good one.
What do you think about Dorman brand ? İt is 120 bucks.
And my code is 22680-31U00
What I find is for vq30de so the code is 22680-31U05
İs it same or makes different for car ?

22680-31U05 is the updated model for the maxima and the other code which is 22680 31U00 A36-608 E60 is the original sensor that came with the maxima and I'm selling this sensor on ebay which is original for 70.00. Heres the link if you want to take a look at it.http://www.ebay.com/itm/331694132010...84.m1555.l2649

Your engine is a two liter engine, most of us have the three liter engine. I would do some research to determine if a maf from a three liter can be used on a two liter. There is less airflow going into the two liter.
Most folks here find that the after-market maf don't work as well as oem. Probably better and cheaper to buy a disconnection your local wrecking yard. Some people have repaired their mad by doing some soldering.
Which country do you live in?

My maxima is worth to see,I did everything what car needs. Most of parts is same with 3000cc so it is possible to using same maf but I want to make sure with that. I wrote the Dorman brands techinal support and they say,
Your original number crosses to 22680-31u05 through Nissan so it will work for you.
Do you have any idea about soldering ?

For the 2.0 liter engine used in Europe, the maf is number 22680-AD201. The old, original number was 22680-AD200.
I got this information from the website http://nissan4u.com/parts/. I used 2001 for the year of the car. If your car is a different year, you should chek to see if the number is the same for your car.

my car year is 1997
I have checked that website and it says
2268031U00
alternate: 2268031U05
So this is going to work either.
Before thinking aftermarket brand Dorman, any helps or any experience about soldering inside ?

I have read that some of our members have opened the maf, and then done the soldering. If you use the search box and enter something like "solder maf" you might find the thread and instructions.
The reason I mentioned a used maf is that I have read several threads that mention that the old, original equipment ones last a very long time, while the after market mafs seem to either fail soon or not work as well.
I would not like to install old electronics unless there was a good reason to do so.
Again, do a search of other peoples experiences, and then decide what to do.
