1998 Nissan Maxima GXE VS. 2001 TRD Celica GT-S

I thought I saw someone on here the other day asking about a Maxima vs. a Celica GT-s or a WRX or something like that. Well here is an answer for you (maybe, im not sure of the mods the cars had) I saw a Maxima (98 GXE)race a 2001 Celica GT-s last night and it wasnt pretty for us Maxima lovers. oh yeah the max was auto the celica was 6 speed. anyway they raced from a dead stop to about 95 and the celica was ahead by about 5 car lengths. Like i said I dont know what mods either of the cars had but the celica spanked the max Just thought id post and let you know the results, (cant remember who asked this question) Take care

Even Toylet902 (5 spd 5th gen) was afraid to race a Celica GT-S.

I was riding with him and we played around a little bit and the GT-S blew us away.

Are you serious? WOW!!! Didn't realize they were that quick. We've got our work cut out for us, sounds like. Even the 5-speeds might have had trouble from the sound of it.

this could have something to do with the fact that a properly driven 5 speed Maxima is 1 second faster in the quarter mile than its auto counterpart...

Ok people, I have some good news I just talked to the guy that owns the 98 max and he said that the Celica had a TRD supercharger. Maybe this is why he got spanked so bad. He said that he has a JWT pop charger and thats it. Now this might give some hope to us but I still think that the Celica could probably spank an auto max the worst part is I have an auto. THe guy said that they are going out again tonight to race, (not those two against eachother again but a bunch of cars) so I might tag along and see what I can do. I have intake, y-pipe, custom cat-back so maybe I will fare a little bit better than he did. Ill let you all know. Take Care

lol...i'm guilty of that too when i had my sc. i did that when after i beat a stock newer mustang gt. the guy was shocked and asked me what i got in my car. i told him that i just have all the bolt ons. he didn't believe me. i insisted that that all i had. made him even more mad when i told him i got an automatic. i had a serious look on my face, so not to give it away. surprisingly, he didn't ask me to pop my hood. he just left, cussing at himself. normally, i would tell people i had a sc. however, this guy was really arrogant before the race and talked a lot of trash, so he asked for it.

A typical 5 speed 4th gen will be way ahead of an auto 4th gen too... apples to oranges if you ask me.

BTW what does the TRD package on the GT-S include.

Nealoc187 <----- Still not scared of the GT-S.
