95 Maxima GLE wont start

A few weeks ago I changed my rear valve gasket. I went to start my car right after and it wouldn't start. At first it w would misfire. I changed the spark plugs. Still wouldn't start and I knew I had to change my starter from a previous issue and did so and I took the battery to autozone and had it charged. After all this, it still doesn't start. All it doesnt is make a clicking sound. At this point I dont know what else to do.
If anyone has a solution to this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Did it work properly all the time just before you did this work?

What made you decide that spark plugs and a new battery would solve this problem?

It worked fine prior to this. Afterwards I would try starting the car and it would misfire. I checked the plugs and they needed to be change and my battery died after trying to crank it a bunch of times. So I took it to auto zone to get charged.

So it sounds like you changed your starter, and now the starter does not seem to work.

You mentioned that you took your battery to Auto zone for a charge. Did you buy the starter from Autozone?
Many people on this forum have said that starters from Autozone do not last.

The click sound seems like a starter issue. I would remove the starter. I would have it tested. First I would go to NAPA or other parts zone for an independent test. THEN to auto zone.
At the very least, they should echange the probably bad starter for another one. Hopefully that one might be better.

I never went to auto zone for a starter. I bought my starter from RockAuto Online.

I had a battery terminal issue last year and it caused a clicking noise. Fixed the terminal ends and all was good.

Gold starter is a brand new one. Rather than remanufacutre which has been used and could potentially fail

The check engine light means that there is something wrong. An auto parts store might be able to plug in a code reader. It would tell you which code comes up as a problem. Then you could tell us what that code is. Then we might be able to help you.

Since your car won't start, you might need to purchase or borrow a code reader. The code reader is something you really should own if you are going to be working on cars, or just want to know what's wrong.

Im thinking its something you didnt plug in or there is a vacuum leak. Check for Spark first since thats the easiest. then check fuel pump.

I have a code reader and the only that came up was that the knock sensor needs to be changed. I did looked up some info about it and the sensor doesn't really have anything to do with the car not starting. The spark plugs are fine, I changed all of them maybe a two weeks ago. Could it be the coil packs?

spray some starter fluid into your throttle body and have someone start the car.

So after all this time, the problem might be the egr valve gasket it. It must have came off when I took the manifold off. So I bought a gasket and put silicon type sealer to hold the gasket in place. Only to find out that after a few tries of putting everything back together than when I would screw the intake on to the egr pipe the valve gasket kept sliding off. Am I doing something wrong?

Assemble like you did before, only this time pay attention to what the gasket is doing. I start with a bolt near the top of a part. I make sure that the gasket is hanging from the bolt. Run the bolt in about two turns. Just enough to keep it in place. Then make sure that the gasket is in the right place as you start the second bolt.
Then tighten as usual.

The iacv valve gasket is also mounted vertically.

I had the same problem you do. They take a little practice to do correctly.

Your not, you just have to finnagle it. I hold the gaskets on then slide the bolts in so the gaskets stay in place and carefully thread in the bolts with my hand making sure not to damage the gaskets.

make shure that the gasket didnt fall out of the egr tube when u put it back on. u know the little one thats a ***** to hook back up. it is a vaccume there and if u dont have a good seal that means a vaccume leak,to much a vaccume leak and u wont pull any fuel into the cylenders. trust me i dont this and it took me forever to figure out what the hell was goin on. like the ol boy said spray some either or carb cleaner it the intake and crank er if it fires i bet ya a cold budlite thats what happend.
