Temp Gauge Problem

In my 96 im having a slight issue, car starts up good warms up normal steadily climb to operating temperature. However when i accelerate fast from 2nd quickly or pop it into 3rd at high rpms, my temp gauge starts to jump around up and down. It doess not jump up to H but more down to C and middle. I have no codes, i do have full radiator of coolant. Could I have a failing ects, bad thermostat or potential air in system?? Both fans are also working.I ruled out the temp cluster gauge because i swapped in another one and same problem any help appreciated thanks.

Might be air in the system. Did you drain the coolant and refill recently?

I have had luck with jacking the front up about a foot or more, then run in the car at idle while the rad cap is off for about 1/2 hour. Heater controls should be on at the time.

I changed out the water pump and filled up the system with coolant. i did not burp the system maybe i should of.. Maybe that could be it. When you mean heater controls should be on, you mean fan speed should be on? or heat **** should be turned to the hot side i have Manuel climate controls. I do know how to bleed the system, but never had to on any of my 4th gens. Does the FSM call for the Fan speed to be turned on while burping the system?? I guess its time to break out good ol' FSM book.

Heater control should be set to heat, at a high position. Concept is to allow full flow to the heater. Fan position doesn't matter.

Since you said that you did not bleed the air out, you have issues now. Sometimes the thermometer measures air temperature instead of coolant temp.

The solution is to raise the front of the car about a foot or more with the rad cap off. Let it idle till warm, then blip the throttle occasionaly.

At least this should be a simple solution.
