Dash Kit Question

I am thinking about ordering the aluminum dash kit from custommaxima. The question I have is, since I have a GLE, would the dash kit cover up all the wood that is already there? I remember seeing someone's sig pic and it looked like there was wood at the edges still.

If the wood does show, would it be very expensive to replace all the wood GLE parts with black GXE parts?

Thanks

I have not tried the dash kit, I sprayed mine. It's not hard to do!. If you do plan on getting the dash kit, you may want to spray the edges with chrome and clear coat in case there is a slight misalignment. I don't know how well these kits fit, but it wouldn't hurt anything ... unless you ever think of going back to stock.

If and when I get the dash kit, I don't plan on removing it anytime soon but with all the mods to my car, I just like knowing that I can undo it if the need ever arises. The 3M tape is a pain in the *** to clean off entirely but it is possible, right?

If I were to go the paint route, would that be reversable somehow...?

if you put a dash kit on the wood.. the wood peeks through... I've seen it before it looks kinda bad... and 3M tape is easily rmoved if ya kinda let it soak in WD40 it comes right off.. I removed part of my dash kit (the power window pieces) cuz they kinda looked tacky and it came right off with only a little bit of tape left... which was removed

for pics of my painted dash. Just prime, paint and clear. With a little sanding where needed to keep it smooth.

Here it is (sig) If you really look at it, the wood does peek through and it gets kinda annoying, but if you glance at it, you dont notice it. I dont really notice it, but thats probably cause im driving nad not looking right at it.

Hey, I'm interested in such a kit. I'm actually thinking of going for the 19 piece wood kit for my 98' SE 5 spd.

painting looks pretty good. I preferred real alumunum though. I recommend finding another maxima guy in here in your area thats willing to do black piece swap b/c the dash kit will not cover the wood. I swapped my burl teck dash for OEM black pieces. they look much better than that brown stuff nissan put in the maxima. UGLY stuff!
