I'm looking at a 1995 Maxima SE, 5-speed, pearl white, cream cloth, power seats and everything else, power moonroof, bose w/tape and cd, alloys, 93,000 miles, perfect condition, $8900. Nothing wrong that I can tell. Heard run. Driving it tommorrow. I need to know what to look for as far as chronic problems. Please reply soon. Want to buy it tommorrow. Thanks in advance. Also how fast can these cars get. I'm not taking it to the strip or anything. I got a supercharged XR7 for that, just curious.

Find out if/when the starter has been replaced. I've had my 95SE for 3-4 years and almost 60k miles and the starter was the only thing that died on it. Don't let the dealer talk you into an extended warranty like I did. I paid $1000 for the policy which covered $300 worth of the $350 starter replacement.

make sure to get good maintenance records. Look for rusty exhaust and check for good emissions cert. Check for lotsa bounce in susp, may need shocks. Also look at thickness of brake pads and tread depth on tires. Look to see how clean antifreeze is. Lotsa rust is bad. Make sure clutch engages good and strong. These are just general things, not really max specific. They are generally good cars.

Starter @ 30K, no other problems. Use Lemonbusters (worth the $110), or at the very least http://www.carfax.com. Also view http://www.carpoint.com under "reliability". Good luck.

95 MAX 5-SPEED

I have a have a 95 Max with a 5SPD that has 91K and my Clutch is the only problem it is slipping all over the place and is being replaced next Friday anyways its a good excuse for me to get a Stage 3 Centerforce Clutch and Alloy Flywheel.Anyways other than this current problem the car has treated me like a KING.Just make sure the clutch is in check it probably will be fine mine most likely is breaking prematurely because of my bad {good} driving habbits.Anyways the car is real quick and can be made much quicker easaly, stock 0-60 in 6.6 and 1/4 15.2 not bad huh, good luck.

Have it checked out!

Spend the 50 bucks and take it to your local nissan dealer and have them do an inspection on it. You dont want a crappy car that you cant return. Lots of headaces. Dont go into it thinking "Im getting this car", that gives the seller the upper hand.
