I'm having a starting issue and have convinced myself that it's the starter and have further convinced myself that it's due to my having bought (about 3 years ago) a starter with a 10 tooth drive gear.

I'm on the hunt to replace it and want one with an 11 tooth drive.

The only 11 toothed ones I've found so far are:

Remy re-manufactured with a LLT;
Bosch re-manufactured with a 24 month warranty;
Duralast Gold new (Auto Zone) with a LLT.

Do any of you guys know of other worthwhile 11 toothed units?

Any of those should be fine. I would pick something with LLT.

Don't know about 11-tooth, but the Duralast Gold unit I just replaced lasted about 2 years before it started cranking slower and had intermittent crank issues.

Be careful if you get a starter online. Twice I ordered 11 tooth starters and they sent 10 tooth ones. I am going to rebuild my own.

Hey Tb,

Yeah, what's available at this point for 4th gens is becoming a real issue.

Are there any real Good Oll Boy starter rebuilders there anymore? I'd take yours or another OEM from a junk yard that is better than average so he's starting from a decent foundation, and have it restored.

Probably the best way to get another 20. It seems when it comes to alternators and starters, what's available isn't even a shadow of what we started with.

LLW doesn't mean doo doo when you're stuck somewhere. Especially when Alligators are hungry! LOL
