coolant change question

Hi guys:

A few questions on changing coolant on a 95 Maxima...

1. what exactly does putting the temp to high on the automatic temp control or performing the sequence in the FSM on the automatic temp control do? Does it matter if you don't open the engine drain plugs?
2. I forgot to do the sequence in (1) during my coolant change and hose change today but did it right after draining the fluid out of the radiator. Does it matter?
3. After refilling the radiator, the owner's manual or FSM doesn't say anything about making sure temp is still set to high and blower is on but I have always done both. What do folks here do? I've noticed in generic coolant change guides is says not to put the blower motor on but the only reason I can think of is if you do, that will pull heat off the engine and just delay the thermostat from opening and therefore make the process of bleeding air out the system a bit longer. Thoughts?

Thanks

By putting the temp control high, you will open up the thermostat so that the air will be bled out properly.

I don't think it matters too much if you forgot the step, the air will eventually bled out. Do keep an eye on the reservoir, make sure it is not below the min line. I have a scangauge plugged in all the time so that I can constantly monitor the temperature, just to be on the safe side.
