So the recent thread about OEM Bose speakers reminded me about something I've wanted to post about. A few years back my OEM Bose head unit went completely blank. You could still hear music, adjust volume, but no display! I read this was a common issue linked to a certain resistor. I found a place called Factory Car Stereo and sent it to them. They not only replaced the resistor but others known to fail as well and even cleaned the CD optics etc. The price was about $80 or $100 to the best of my recollection. I know some folks are not fond of the OEM Bose unit and would even say this was wasted money, but for me it has been just fine and I've never been interested in changing or modifying things. So there you go. If you have a problem with your Bose head unit and want it repaired, give these guys a call!

I've used them before for the Bose unit in my Q45. I had issues with the amplified speakers so I had to send the speakers along with the head unit.

Haha I got rid of mine 6 yrs ago, I think the volume didn't work quite right then it eventually crapped itself. Got a aftermarket single din for 80 bucks back then and never looked back. So many more features with aftermarket these days.

Josh, Did you only replace the head with the appropriate low output connections for the installed speakers, or do Head, Amp(s) and Speakers?

Just the head unit. It works just fine after 6 years. Had a professional install it that was included in the $80. It was just something simple and that I can play music from my phone. All I needed.

Thanks!

Speakers still put out like new?

My Bose head has been dying a slow death. Radio reception or the FM tuner is becoming horrible and the CD player is dead. I bought a used but recently rebuilt antenna from a member, mine doesn't retract enough. Expecting it in a couple days. Wondering if I should follow your path or maybe the rest in the chain needs to be replaced as well. I'd be happy with sounding like it did when new or better. But reasonable. I've recently dumped $3K for a new SS Carb Compliant Exhaust (NY STATE sucks), Struts, 4 Motor Mounts, Transmission reseal and Rear Main Seal (engine) and it needs even more. OUCH!

But it is quiet again so I could hear the stereo if it worked right. LOL
