I changed the oil pressure switch and yes its from the dealer and the problem is still there. Yet the oil level is good and no metallic sounds that engines make when they don't get oil. It runs fine no smoke no nothing. Its a 98 with 72000 miles. Has anyone have this problem and still drove it like that for years or so? Need help and advice

I'm not sure that the "flickering" of the dash indicator on startup ... while oil pressure builds ... is a problem.

My 98' does the same thing. Has done it since I've owned it. I don't think its an issue.

Crappy oil filters will cause this problem. You have to use the oem nissan one from the dealership or use the bosch ones. I have never had a problem with that light again.

Its normal.

My 3.0 and 3.5 do the same thing at startup.

Now if it flickers after your warmed up and while your driving than you may have some other issues.

My car when driving would flicker only when i was really low on oil or if i was to come to a hard stop which would cause oil in pan to woosh around briefly.

My 01 used to do it and my 00 does it too. Nothing to worry about as long as the light doesn't stay on.

Interesting, I'll grab an OE filter next oil change.

Now if it flickered on after a 10-minute drive and start hearing knocking sounds... too late. But otherwise on startup, it shouldn't be a problem, all the oil has to build up from the bottom.

It's also an indication of weather your idle is low or you don't have enough fuel pressure when starting the car causing the car to stall or idle low.

my oil light has flickered for 14 years, oil was low a bunch of times and no worries. not like my pos hyundai that went 3 quarts low with no warning and i had to replace the engine.

Goes to show how well built these 4th gens were made. Every car is built differently. Some are weak like fiat's, some are bulletproof.

I have had a 96, 97 and a 98. None of them have displayed a flickering oil light at startup.
