Starting problem. Often won't crank, shifting to Neutral usually works.

Like I said, starting is an issue with my new wheels. If shifting to Neutral gets the starter to crank does this mean I have a bad transmission sensor? I read a thread about how someone's negative battery cable was corroded and that was the issue. Another person had corrosion between the engine and the transmission. Other people mention the anti-theft system, the ignition switch, or the slop between the key and the ignition switch. The question is: what's my problem?

At first I thought it might be key slop, but then why would shifting to neutral help? I'm thinking of pulling fuse #61 under the hood to disable the anti-theft system. How big a deal is it to install a new transmission sensor?

Sometimes, my car does this too. All I have to do is push the gear selector stick back to P direction then turn key again. Like almost all the time, it worked for me.

The switch is mounted on the transmission, referred in FSM as Inhibitor switch. It is located under the battery, You can access it after removing the splash guard underneath.

There's a video on YT if you want to get to it:

Hope you can resolve your issue.

Thanks, that looks promising! (Wait does the sticky say not to thanks post? You guys need to update the forum to include thumbs up reactions, etc).
Although, tbh I don't quite understand what gets out of alignment. Maybe it's time to pick up a Haynes manual (if that's the recommended book).

I drove today with 3 starts and no problems... mysterious.
