Camshaft Position Sensor o-ring leaking

The o-ring is made of hard plastic, and I want to replace it. I measured the sensor, and its 13/16in on the outside, and 11/16 inside where the o-ring sits. Based on those dimensions, what size o-ring do I need? Also does the material matter? I saw nitrile rubber o-rings only handle 107c, is that good enough, or will the disintegrate with engine heat?

I had the same leak it’s very common. I replaced the o ring several times with all different o-rings and leak kept coming back. Bit the bullet and put the $10 one from the dealer in. Leak free over a year and counting. In retrospect the double and triple work and the thought that went into saving $9 was not worth it.

The original o-ring looks like its made of stiff plastic, were you able to fit the dealer one onto the sensor by just stretching it and putting it on? Or is there a special way to put it on?

No tools, just pull it on/ roll it up. Its not plastic, maybe yours seems that way because its old and oil soaked.

Alright, thank you very much for you input! I found its sold for $10 at my local dealer. I put a $1 nitrite o-ring on it for now, but if it starts leaking I'll just get the dealer one.

My thoughts exactly. It's seems as if it's hard plastic because it's old and hardened. A new one will be soft and pliable. Don't waste your time with anything but OEM. Do it once, do it right.

It's rubber when new! It's look and feels like plastic when it's old and done!
