How to bring crank pully back in alignment?

My 97 max has been down for a few months, but finally finished with the injector install to find that it cranks but doesn't fire. I've been reading the service manual and read over crank pully alignment, which I have discovered that the pully is not in line with the water pump cover(indent is farther clockwise).

The manual only briefly says to turn the pully back into alignment. I have the serpentine belt loosened, but I don't see a tensioner for the secondary belt? And the pully is not budging by hand.

If you're talking about the PS belt, the tensioner is up above the DS axle, use a 10mm socket to adjust iirc, but be sure you first loosen the locking nut which is a 12 or 14mm....

go to steering section, once you get it loose then your CS pulley can be 'turned back into alignment' ..

Found the info for the tensioner, thank you. Wanted to post the reference for others.

You do not have to loosen any of the belt to line the crank pulley marking to the marking on the water pump cover. You just put a socket (19mm or 21mm) on the crank and slowly turn it clockwise with a ratchet until you get it to line up. All the ACC will just turn along as well. I have always done it this way.

Thank you! It was super stiff at first, but after than initial turn it turned a bit easier. But...

Still not firing up, and after trying to start it the crank isn't aligned anymore. When the engine is off is the crank pully always suppose to be aligned to the water pump indicator?

What am I missing here, what does bringing it to top dead center do? And why are you doing it after installing injectors? Are crank/cam sensors working? Are coils/ Injectors working? I never aligned it with the wp indicator unless doing a timing chain maintenance/changing the water pump.

My other post probably makes a bit more sense, but I'm just trying to solve my no start issue... and not sure what would or wouldn't cause this issue. So if its not in top dead center, its fine? That is only important when getting the engine back into the right timing?
