Cannot belive what i found out tonite.....

my god..... i feel like such an idiot, but it rilly isnt my fault, cuz i didnt put that part on, but still..... i been complaining so much on high end loss with my CAI! Tonite when i was under the hood measuring out some specs out for that custom dual intake im making, i was flipping the throttle butterfly up and down with the little lever outside of the t.b. Then it just snapped to me that my t.b would only go halfway up! the excess metal tightening ring for the first gasket on the CAI was hanging over and making the bottom half of the t.b lever catch it at half WOT! the first nite we put it in i was like, why am i hitting the floor so quick, i never used to "have" to floor my car. no one belived me... and i have felt such a noticeable thing of high end loss it convinced me to make this intake im working on, for the last couple months i have only been at 1/2 WOT when i thought i was flooring it!!! no wonder!! and i have still been beating ricers at only 1/2 throttle! no wonder my CAI wasnt as loud as everyone elses!!arghhhhhh, well sorry i had to vent, i bent it out of the way and OH MY GOD its like i put a mod on my car for free, its back!!! i was wondering what happend to the violence i had in first gear when i first had the car with the steering wheel gettin all squirrely, now its back, and now i actually can feel what the y pipe and exhaust has done, its insane, is all i can say..insane.... i duno if this has happend to anyone, but you should check, nahhh, ur probably not that stupid, flame me as you must!

Haha! Well at least you found the problem. Just feel good that YOU found it and not one of your friends or mechanics. THEN you would have to feel 2x as dumb. hehe

Well I am thankful that you posted that information. I just got my CAI and was going to be installing it on Saturday afternoon if weather permits and if I can settle the filter problem with Place Racing. I'll know to watch out for this little problem when I install. You must feel like you're driving a car 10x faster!!

thanks for not bein too hard on me guys, but its just crazzzy
and im not some dumb*** or anything, its just funny that im workin on this complex dual intake, yet the high end problem was the fact that my car was doin this. im still gonna work on the secondary intake this weeknd, try to boost up our highway speed a little bit. its funny, u guys can calculate the distance for me, i think its like a .15 mile straightaway before my neighborhood, and i use to have trouble gettin my car up to 50-55 before it gets windy, today i took it there, im hittin 70-75! i had confidence before when i raced people, now its just gonna be sick destruction.i thought before my y pipe was sweet, now me and my friend were gettin thrown into the seat, its a nice feeling.... its funny ive had the mods for a couple months and am just now being able to use them, i feel like such an idiot, yet all i do is study auto mechanics....hmmmm

after retightening my upper pr cai portion i once hit full throttle and the cable got stuck meaning i was revving in nuetral for like 30seconds straight bounchin off the rev limiter, finally turned the car off and went straight to work to fix it. I hope i didnt do any damage to my car cause it still runs great.

ha you lucky. put my cai on at night. when I finished I took my little cousin for a test drive. Got on the highway and stepped into it. Awesome I loved it, let of the gas and guess what. She's was still screaming. Had to turn off key and coast to shoulder. Popped the hood and low and behold access on the band clamp had my throttle hung wide open.

dual intake huh?

i contemplated that, is it really going to work?? the reason i havent done this is because could your car run lean? also will it make a difference, i mean the TB can only take in so much air at once. i may post this if nobody replies. i like this idea if it would be beneficial, i bet itd look cool too.

all you do is check the throttle levers travel when the car is off with your fingers, bend it all the way up and make sure it comes all the way to its stopper, dont let annnnything anywhere near it, you hear me! i was lucky i found that, it coulda been dangerous like you guys are saying here, guess i wasnt the only one, easy mistake

I put my CAI in last summer on a hot/humid night.
I finished at about 11PM and just had to take it for
a test spin. I got to a semi private road and opened it up.
It was wonderful, but when I took my foot off of the gas
throttle was stuck at about a third of the way open.
(the throttle cam was stuck against the CAI hose clamp).
Good thing I had the correct screw deliver with me.
That was a bit of a adrenalin rush!

MAXIMA RIDER, you mean i went to work and fixed it

Hey, I'M BACK BABY!

Alright since Maximarider replaced his 95 max (RIP), I have a new car to work on. SO I guess I'll occasinally visit maxima.org.
This little mishap scared the schit out of us! We pulled off, basically in the middle of the road, popped the hood, and I fixed it so we could drive back and I could fix it for good. Anyway, its just a careless mistake of not testing the fitment of a part, and was found the hardway

Well, I am gonna go see what else is new on maxima.org

Peace

I once noticed that my car seemed slower at WOT but figured it was all in my head. Then a few days later I realized the floor mat was stuck under the accelerator and didn't allow it to go all the way down. Problem with our cars is that they are still so fast under medium acceleration that you can think your at WOT when you're really not.
