1997 Maxima GLE door look issue

The driver side door is locked and will not open with the key. However, the other 3 doors do lock and unlock automatically with the key. Could the problem be the door lock actuator or the electric lock? I am told they are 2 separate parts but don't know for sure.
Also, since the door is locked I can't remove the door panel to look inside. Is there a way to get the door to unlock one time so I can get access inside the door? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

can't you just unlock the door from the inside manually?

No, the driver front door will not unlock from the inside. The other 3 doors lock and unlock as they should from the inside or outside.

Plastic Linkage in the door probably broke.

Maybe with the window down, or up depending on the easiest path, and a flat piece of metal banding and an internal diagram of the door locking mechanism, you can fish around until you unhook the locked setting on the latch mechanism?

Is the plastic linkage you mentioned the door lock actuator? Either way will give it a try. Thanks.

had the same thing happen to my 95 .the lock assy itself has a couple pivot points made of plastic. in my case 1 broke rendering my drivers door in the exact same situation.
was able to fish around with a bent hanger with the window down so I could see in there for a will and eventually released the lock,
found a replacement assy and all is fine again. hardest part was getting it unlocked. after that I took everything apart in the door and fixed it,.
if its similar to mine you can move the lock button on the door but its stiff and wont actually unlock it. of course the remote has the same problem
cause the elec actuator in my case was moving the part with the broken pivot point.
this is the replacement part

Thanks! So it has nothing to do with the door lock actuator?
