Well I locked my key in the trunk while intalling a new trunk lid...

Hey,
I bought a new trunk lid for my 97 I30 so I can have a factory spoiler without having to drill my trunk. Well before I could connect the trunk popper I shut it without thinking. Locked the key inside and everything. My current key is different enough that it just wont open. I assume there is a easy way to open it manually.

Also regarding spoiler lights. the one on this one doesn't work, I plugged it in, do I need to add a fuse or unplug the third brake light to get it to work or is that just a case of a burnt out bulb...

Thanks

The first thing which comes to mind is the trunk opening button on the driver's door

The latch on the new trunk lid isn't working so that's a no go the button clicks but does nothing

I’d think you’d be able to locate the key, visually, by lowering the rear seat center arm-rest and tray and using flashlight.

Then with “something”, a broomstick, a yardstick or maybe even using a shop-vac, you could retrieve the key.

Like Tb said above through the seat door. I have an antenna type magnet that extends and would easily pull out the key.

Every 4th Gen Maxima and Infinity came with 2 keys. One Master Key that opens everything and one trunk restricted key. So if valet parking, you can protect the contents of the Trunk. Doesn't work on the Trunk lock and there's a electric button blocker by the lock so there's no big way in.

And if that doesn't work......

The good news for you is you can go to an Infinity dealer and with your VIN and Title and Insurance Card (Just in case they want proof) and can buy a new master key they have stored in their Database. They have a key cutter that goes direct from the database to cut like new.

They do, the key isn't in the trunk it's in the space between the lid and the car where the seal is. I may be able to poke something into the trunk access and lift the latch lever and open the trunk. I should have swapped locks and latches before I put the junkyard trunk on

Un bolt the back seat and metal plate. Crawl in and fiddle with the latch. Too bad these cars don't have the emergency release pull inside.

If you can crawl in there, bring the tools you need with you! and a cell phone in case you get stuck! LOL

Probably the easiest way to get the lock to release is to find the solenoid controlled by the switch on the driver's door and FOB and move whatever moves like the solenoid pulled it. Pop.... Done!

Maybe bring water and food in case whoever you call takes too long! Best of Luck!

Got the key made and unlocked the trunk, turns out the latch on the junkyard trunk is a bit damaged so I will need to solve that...
