What’s your startup? Should the engine be able to run awhile without fuel pump fuse?

What’s your startup? Should the engine be able to run awhile without fuel pump fuse?

Hey all,

Only get here sparingly considering I basically “beat” the Maxima by pretty much solving just about every issue it lol.

However, I decided to change fuel filter and after unplugging fuse, engine ran on for awhile until I turned on and off a couple times. When changing fuel filter, there was spray of fuel from the incoming line (bottom of filter) (not something that normally happens).

Wondering if this has something to do with my jumping idle (somewhere around 1,500-1,800) when starting warm.

everything fuel related been changed so far, wondering if my fuel pump replacement is giving too much pressure? I don’t have gauges but wondering if that’s what’s causing it. Can’t really pinpoint when the issue started considering I was chasing a stall out and blinking check engine light issue awhile back and changing a bunch of parts before figuring out what it was. (Maf and one ignition coil that took a Hitachi brand to work properly)

other than that, engine runs fines. Idles at 550-600 in drive. About 800 in park and same in neutral. Even replaced a cracked rubber piece in the intake. Unless I need to drive a bit longer around for the ECU to catch up 🤔

Your post seems to be confusing.
Way too much information.

Which issue needs solving ?

To answer the question in the title, yes, the engine will run for a few seconds with the fuse removed for the fuel pump. And I'm not surprised that it squirted out some fuel when you removed the filter. It's not like the fuel lines were sucked completely dry. I can't imagine any of that has anything to do with your jumpy idle. Have you cleaned out your IACV? Checked for vacuum leaks?
