Random Technology Cat, is it worth it or not?

Ive done a search and read through all of the threads that showed up but it was mostly people just talking about their set ups and stuff. My question is, Is it really worth it to get the RT Cat? Will I feel any gains at all? I currently have Intake,y-pipe,and custom cat-back. I have heard some people say that the RT cat does nothing and I have heard some say that it is great. Im just trying to get strong opinion or maybe the majority to see if I should get one or not. Is it worth spending the $170 at custommaxima.com or is it pretty much a worthless mod. I know the limits of my Max but id like it to be as fast as it can possibly be while I have it. So back to the question. Is the cat worth it or not? If yes, what kind of gains will I feel and where? Thanks for the help. Take Care

my advice is buy a custom test pipe that replaces your cat with a staight through, unrestricted pipe....then when emission time comes around put your stock cat on....this set-up with yield MUCH better gains than an R/T cat...and it's MUCH cheaper...

No I dont want to do that, ive heard bad things about those little test pipes. like whoever is driving behind you will puke from the horrible smell your car is putting out. Plus its a hassle to have to swap for emissions. Can someone give me some advice about getting a RT Cat? Take Care

Cats

Check out our web site. Random Tech has to have a damn good marketing manager. Most people feel little to no performance gains, although it is debatable. We sell Carsound cats. Alot less money and we feel same performance. I dynod my car head to head Carsound vs RT, the RT got 1 more h/p at 5500 RPMs. Save your money for another mod.

Listen to Dan and buy a Carsound cat if you are needing to replace your cat with a high flow one. I wish I would have remembered

OK so if I get one ill go with carsound but does either provide any difference at all? I guess I should just save my money for something else because from what it sounds like the Cat doesnt provide any decent gains. Damn, I wish I could figure something else out to get for performance. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Take Care

I have a 2.5" catback, no resonator, Y, flomasters, and STOCK cataylst. The 2HP I would gain for going hi-flow is NOT worth the sound/pollution smell increase.
