Shifter slop - shifter return spring?

Hey guys,

the shifter in my 97 is sloppy and loose when going into 1st and 2nd but it is tight when going to 5th. I assume its the shifter return spring or the bushing on the linkage, does anyone have links for either of these parts? I cannot find the spring anywhere. Can I still get these at the dealership, I want to confirm before I go.

All the parts were used when I swapped the into the car, I should have done this when I had it all apart but alas here I am.

I did tighten the two nuts that attach the shifter handle to the linkage and that did help but the side to side is still sloppy.

Thanks, I appreciate all the help over the years I have found here.

I recommend finding the part numbers online first and doing web searches for them. Chances are they won't be available in any US dealerships, but there's a good chance you can have them shipped from Japan if you order from Amayama.

A couple of years ago I ordered some original shifter bearings and the shifter spring from https://jp-carparts.com. That site along with the above mentioned https://www.amayama.com are where I have to go now to get a lot of OEM parts as the dealerships here in Canada don't carry most parts anymore. Either those or https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/ .
