Door lock --> Alarm issue
Door lock --> Alarm issue
Long time lurker here, first post. I have an issue with my 97 Maxima. The driver's door latch/lock mechanism broke and I found a replacement. In the interim, I've been keeping the door shut with strategically placed bungee cords (3) while driving. Knowing I didn't have a way to turn off the alarm if I were to activate it I've been VERY careful about clicking the fob unlock button twice to open the passenger door before getting in the car, Well, I screwed that pooch today by -- I guess -- only hitting the unlock button once rather than twice and set off the alarm when I opened the passenger door.
I got in, hit the hood release and pulled the battery cable. Having the key in the ignition not in the locked position while the battery is disconnected doesn't matter to the alarm -- it goes off the instant it receives battery power.
Is there any other way to tell the alarm it's all good given I don't have a working door lock cylinder?-- thanks!
