CAI is in and WOW......FAST, and LOUD

Man, talk about getting going faster. It had to have added at least 10hp and 20Tq, it just gets up and goes now!! I love it!! BUT.....

It is kinda loud, I mean, really loud, if you floor you hear it down the street. My dad punched a good 400 feet my house, and Im up here inside on my computer and I heard it. Its really loud under WOT, is it supposed to be this loud? If not what do I do to take the loudness down? I mean, its not bad at all under normal conditions, just from around 4k rpm and up it seems to get loud. Let me know. Thanks!! Great mod for the money though, makes great power!! Power wise I love it!! Noise wise......well.....I get used to it I guess.

Anyways, yes CAI's rule! Nice little pull through midrange city driving. And the WOT sound is amazing! You don't wanna quite it down. Under normal driving its like stock 'cept for the hissing. You think a CAI is loud, try CAI+Y-pipe+Catback duals+no resonator. Now that is LOUD!

Quite cars are for women and old men

Just a CAI and a Y seems to take away almost of the sound from the CAI. Instead of the LOUD growling, its more of a deep, quieter, engine type sound.

Hey TintDaMax, if I put on a ypipe, I'm going to lose the WOT thunder?

Well, not really. it will still be kind of loud, but the growling will go away. At WOT it will sound more like an engine than an angry lion, if you know what I mean.

FIRST OFF what does WOT stand for???

Second of all, you guys are scaring me from getting a CAI...

What is louder, Y-pipe or CAI? and if I get either one, how do I make either one a little more silent if it's too loud for me?

CAI is louder, if you want silence leave your stock air box on and just get the top part of the CAI. That way you have some kind of gains while being somewhat silent.

Y-Pipe is not loud with stock muffler, you just hear a grubmle. But if you have any kind of aftermarket muffler it will be very loud.

Add CAI and Y-PIPE/MUFFLER together and you have a screaming honking V-8-wannabe.

P.S.: "WOT" means "Wide Open Throttle" its that thing that happens when you push the gas pedal all the way down to the floor and your throttle body goes "wide open"

1-3 i get a nice sound, not loud, but u get that awesome whistle, then around 3-3.5 it starts roaring at you, and beyond that its just plain loud, not at all a sound that just comes from a cheap muffler

Its not such a big deal, Its a cool @ss sound, there is not way you could not like it. It doesnt get in the way when youre cruising on the highway cause you dont go over 3k usually. It doenst get in teh way when your in the city caue you dont go over 3k usually. When you do go over 3k, then the sound is bad@ss, so dont worry so much...seesh!

ok, in that case, how much did u guys pay for yours and how much added horsepower do u normally get? like 5 to 10 right....bout to get one....

when u say 3k, what do u mean? I have an automatic...I'm dumbfounded when it comes to these things...how fast can i go before it gets really loud? like 60 or 70 mph???? If one of u can answer this question, i'm set to get one...but if it goes all crazy when i'm going like 40 or under, i'll have second thoughts....

I paid $215 at custommaxima.com for the silver one

3k as in 3000 RPMs from what everyone says, above 3500 rpm it will start to get louder. I have a pop charger and from some ppl its louder than a CAI so its quiet during normal driving and only gets loud during hard acceleration so going under 40 isnt going to be loud unless you floor it at every stop light

the sound of the CAI is always nice...if you drive your car normally, you won't really experience the sound...it's only when you slam on that gas that it reall roars at you, and it by no means sounds like a cheap muffler...
