What is the best catback?

What other cat-backs are available besides the Stillen at $585? What is the best?

Well in some peoples minds sound is a big deal if the cat-back is worth it or not...Stillen is the loudest (loud drone) then comes greddy (loud annoying drone) then in a distant 3rd there is Apex-i World Sport(closest to stock). Price wise they are all about the same exept for the Stillen...there stuff is always made out of 50% gold . You have to think along the lines of if your going to be getting a y-pipe or not. The hole system will be louder when you put on a y-pipe with a cat-back...You can always keep the stock muffler and mod the crap out of the exhaust and still stay quiet.

Another option is to find a local muffler shop. One near me in Massachusetts ( dont know if your from around here) does them complete for under 230 bucks. So you might wanna consider something like that too.

I just put a Greddy SP on my 99 SE. To be frank, it really sucks, i mean really sucks. I can't stand the drone, unless the rpm's are above 3K, when my SC kicks in, it just sounds cheesy. Highway is reasonable, but 2.5k driving around town, sounds like crap. I'm thinking of getting the welder out and makin some mods.

Yeah I called the other day to find out and they told me like 190 w/o resonator and 225 with. That included a 2 year warranty of the piping/hangers etc. And a lifetime warranty on the muffler.

exhaust posting

Hello. You posted something below about modding the exhaust and adding a stock muffler to keep it quiet. I really want to upgrade the exhaust but I don't want any noise increase. Will the advise below work? If so what mods can I do to the exhaust before attaching the stock muffler? All I see is a bunch of vague discussions on this list.

you think the SP on your 99 is annoying? try to imagine what it's like to have the EVO on the 99... i agree with you. it does get annoying around 2.5K. sometimes i can't even talk to the passenger because it's so loud.

I agree with some of you. Ive heard Evo exhaust and so is Greddy SP. Both sounded kind of loud & ricey to me. I've got Greddy old version I guess, not loud at all, even with Y pipe but I still have a stock cat, so maybe thats why, but it sounds pretty deep. I love it!

i've got the apexi ws catback on my car with the wsp y-pipe and it sounds great. it's sort of loud but nothing like the ricey fart can mufflers i see on so many hondas. i've had several people tell me that my car sounds like a camaro ss at full throttle. i don't think it sounds like a camaro but it sill sounds excellent!

I remember some people saying that an aftermarket cat..RT or Carsound...will actually reduce the droning

Killing the drone

I finally discovered the answer to Killing off the Drone,

My set up: Wrpsspd Ypipe, RTcat, GreddySP
Problem: Loud, Earbleeding reported around town at WOT
Highway driving raised health issues with my eardrum.
Action: Meineke guy welded 22inch resonator after the RTcat
Meineke guy welded a 9inch resonator after the first bend
before the rear axle.

Result: NO MORE Drone. not loud, very very deep tone
still throaty, at times it sounds like a mustang

Cost: 80.00....cash only..no receipt..

Why not just cruise the speed limit at 65mph and you won't have the drone let alone anymore speeding tickets.
