now that i look at why he thought he needed to clean his throttle body, he had bad idle (500 and lower) my idle is at 600 to 700 when car is warm, when cold, car is at 1,000 to 1200 rpm...is that good?

i wouldn't want to clean throttle if i didn't need to...

only thing making me believe i may need to clean is that when i'm driving and accelerating from time to time, i can feel myself jerking as if i switched gears funny on a stick...but not to the extent where my head is shaking like crazy but i can do a quick knod when it happens...any ideas if cleaning is necessary?

Throttle body mainly helps with idle. If your idle is fine, then there's no need to clean it.

(I'd clean it thought just for performance, you never know how much it COULD help)

Just be sure not to remove the throttle body piece. Just clean it while it's on the car.

Best $3.00 maintenance out there

Make sure you get throttle body cleaner and make sure it says that.

Also, that extra toothbrush you got laying around in case you get lucky one night, now is the time to put it to use.

Easy maintenance but do not expect to have a 13 second Maxima afterward.

Oh also be careful with the plastic nozzle when spraying into the TB, It may come loose and shoot into your TB then you got problems.

I got 63k miles on my Max when I cleaned out my TB. It wasn't really dirty as I discovered. No big diff in performance after the cleaning.

If your saw what was on the back side of the throttle body you would take it off and clean it too. It is much much dirtier than the front side.
