here's a tire calc where you put in the stock size and the new size and it will tell you information about the differences...

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

i think the stock size is 205/65/15..at least that's what it is on my 97 GLE, i'm pretty sure...someone correct me if it's different

no, no, you're on crack, the proper size tire is 235/45/17 for a 17x8 wheel on a maxima

Being an 8-inch rims, you may be able to go wider with the tire, therefore changing the profile to a lower number. For example...a 235/45/17 tire has an overall diameter of 25.3 inches...a 265/40/17 has the same exact diameter at 25.3 inches. If the 265/40/17 will fit on the rim, you could use that size tire as well. You've just got to play with the numbers. Pay attention to tire diameter, because that's what's going to make sure your speedometer accurately reads your rate of speed. I've got 235/45/17 on my car, but I have a 7 inch wide rims, not 8". Are you going with the Cobra rims? I thought about getting those for my car and changing the center cap...

245-50-17 will work fine... but do you understand that this tire is really tall, your sidewall will look abnormally large, and your speedo will be off significantly...

If you want to get a 245 wide dire get 45 or 40 series. I'd go 40 series. 50 series will look stupid.

Yeh, you probably could, but your speedometer is going to be off by about 3 miles an hour. When you're speedometer reads 60, you're actually going to be going 63. Your tires are going to be about a quarter inch wider, but they are going to be about half an inch higher, too. They may rub, but I'm not going to be the one to say that they will or won't...

yeah speedos dont mean anything to me anyways
comon gentz who does the speedlimit here anyways.....
I had 3 mustangs and 2 z28s fully moded in the 12s and 11s.using different rear end ratios, which threw off the speedo gear so its no big deal, just wondering if they would fit thanks

That's cool. There's a guy who just put on 245/35/21 on his car. It's lowered as well, and he had to roll the fenders, from what I understand. Looking at that, I'm thinking you may be all right. How low is the drop with your springs?

Driving, you should be okay, but when you go to make a sharp turn, I'm willing to bet that you're going to have some scrubbing.
