That white stripe is tight against your dark tint. That black part is just tape? How did you get it off?

It's the same tape they use for pin-striping on a car. And the best part is that it's the full finish underneith...clear coat and everything. It's really simple to remove...
Get a metal ruler and a utility knife or razor blade...something to the effect. Use the ruler as a guide and cut the tape at the door seals. Then take a hair dryer on HOT and start warming up the tape at the top. Then just start peeling. Heat the tape as you peel down. If you get it good and warm, the tape will come off in one big piece and won't leave any glue residue behind. If you get some glue left...use GOO GONE to take it off. Then when the tape is off and the finish is clean, polish then wax then buff.....done. Only takes about an hour...hour and a half.
Was that area brighter (less faded)? Also, could you take a close up picture? I have a 96 pebble beige and I'm worried about it looking funny on my car. BTW, it does look very good.

I'll try to get some close up pics up here tomorrow. As for the condition of the paint underneith....there was absolutly no fading. It has clear coat and everything. I matches the rest of the car perfectly. I can't gaurantee, but I'm pretty confident that the paint is fine aon any Max/I30 with this tape.Originally posted by BlancMax

Here are some close-ups...and as you can see in the last pic....the paint quality is sooo good that you can see a reflection of me taking the picture...Was that area brighter (less faded)? I think, eb, what they are worried about is the fact that since 4th Gens are a few years old, they have had some amount of oxidation.Originally posted by ebmorgan

They are worried about the paint not being faded enough to match the rest of their car's paint, which has oxidized a little over the years.
Since your car is white, and fading on white is minimal (hence the term: Resale White), you probably see no difference.
On a maroon, blue, or black max, for instance, there may be a considerable difference (depending on the amount of fading) between the pillars which look brand new and the rest of the car, which may be faded.

Ok I was liking what it looked like till that comment was made. I'll think about it when my tape begins to fade. It hasn't yet. So I'll keep with the stock tape look. Maybe its the rims? I dunno, but I have a white I30 and Well...no way. I have to keep looking like the anti-authority figure I am.Originally posted by Tactics
