I thought our alarms don't sound. You only hear a click click.

If it's a newer alarm by DEI (Viper, Python etc)... The siren has a small black wire loop. Cut it and the arm/disarm chirp will be louder.

??? Assuming factory alarm... arm the alarm then wait until security LED begins to flash... open door thru open window window

For Mamoru's question... assuming aftermarket alarm

The alarm isn't supposed to chirp when you lock and unlock. It's just not something the 4th gens do.

A few days ago I did an experiment with the truck relay that clicks twice when doors are locked with remote. In order not to screw up something, I used another relay being drived by the trunk relay, and then run the added relay to one of the front horns. Didn't sound nice like some cars designed for that chirp, plus it was too loud(can be solved with a resistor in series to drop some voltage). I'd like to find a device that sounds similar to those nice cars' chirp, and install it in the trunk so I don't have to run wires through firewall.

that's just what i thought !! but then i heard it and it made jump from the sound of it. i kept locking and unlocking it to make sure it was my car and it was. my alarm was DEFENITELY making that chirp chirp sound. i don't know about yours, but under my hood there's a lil black horn in the far rear right corner. check yours.

I just make my own chirping noises.

<lock> chirp
<unlock> chirp chirp

The neighbors always look at me funny though

Its probably worth it to mention that with the factory alarm, the rear doors are not wired.
