i don't know for sure because i haven't shaved nor replaced the emblems on my car, but i don't think cold weather will have too much effect, just make sure you get all the residue off once you shave it...and if you want to put it somewhere else, i don't know how well superglue will hold up...there might be a type of epoxy glue you can use that would probably hold up better, but i'm sure someone who knows for sure will come along and answer better than me

I just shaved my trunk last week in the cold. I had help though, took us about an hour and some change to get it done. I placed the M A X I M A sign on my dashboard.....looks hot!

I don't think the cold weather will have any real effect on the difficultly of sawing of the emblems. It might be slightly easier in warm weather. I also would avoid super glue because it might run and ruin your paint. Personally I would look towards colored mounting tape. I used a darker color mounting tape and cut out the shape of the letters with the tape and re-attached my emblem where my SE badge used to belong.

You mean like this

You will need to soften up the adhesive on the backs of the emblems with a hair dryer or heat gun and carefully peel them off. Some have used floss to get them off. I just heated them up and they peeled off with ease. Once they are off you will need to clean off all of the leftover double sided tape and apply some new tape and use an exacto knife to shape the tape. Make sure you clean the new area where the emblems will go with some alcohol and voila.

hmmmm...

I have been thinking about doing this for a long time but Im scared that when I take the emblems off the paint underneath will be a different color. Is this something to worry about? I have a 95 and is there any thing to do if the paint color is different?

It's hard to say because I do not know the condition your paint is in. More than likely yes your paint has some oxidation and the paint beneath the emblems is darker. You may or may not be able to buff it out but that's a risk only you can decide to take.

Worst-case scenario: If your paint is too oxidized around the area covered by the emblem, you can always clean the leftover adhesive off the paint & the emblem, apply & trim 3M double-sided adhesive tape to the badges & simply re-apply. Fwiw, my paint is deep navy blue ("Neptune Blue"), & I pulled my Nissan hamburger off the back & the paint was fine. (1995 SE)

(De-badging isn't a one-way street: plenty of people re-badge their cars later on)

Btw, tape trimming should be done OFF THE CAR, before badges are applied. You might say "uhhh. . .DUH!" , but everyone knows of someone who's done something dumber than that. . .
