Help! My car won't start

i need help with my car...it won't start. all the lights work, but it struggles to start before cutting off. if i try more than a few times, it won't even try to start, no noise, nothing. the car has gas. for the last week, its been struggling to start, but it always kicked over, now it won't...i don't know much about cars, but maybe its the starter or fuelpump...how much does it cost to fix those?...thanks in advance for any help.

Is it a '95?...

If so it may be the starter.

Re: Is it a '95?...

Probably the battery. Check the battery w/ an ohmmeter. Lights don't take that much power to operate, but a starter does. The starter may not turn, but the lights still work.

It's a little electrical tester that measures voltage, resistance, ect. If you don't have one take your battery to autozone, I think they will test it for free. Or jump start your car from someone else's car, this will rule out a bad starter.

I had the same problem on my Camry. I changed the battery and everything worked perfectly.

It might be the alternator. I took a long long screw driver reached down there and gently tapped the hammer as she started it up. Worked fine after that.

I had what sounds to be the same exact problem with my '97. It was rather damp here in Chicago on Saturday so I think that may of had something to do with it. I don't think it has anything to do with the starter since it would start for one second and then shut down. As if it didn't have gas. (I did have a 1/2 tank).
