quick fourth gen question from a 5th gen owner

My buddy is looking for a Maxima to buy. He told me that he found a 4th gen GLE with 5 speed tranny. I know that Nissan doesn't make a 5ht gen GLE with a 5 speed, did they make the 4th gen GLE with an availible tranny? Thanks fellas, I couldn't find it using the search.

Nope. If it's a 5spd without white guages, it's a GXE.

Search the 4th gen forum to decode the VIN.

I was looking curiously at CarMAx the other day and they had a 96 GLE with a 5-speed, or so they said. I looked at the whole car and it was identical to mine the day I got it, I told the salesperson and he said, "Nah, its a GLE, see the trim". I gave up on him. I ran the VIN number, what do you think, it was a GXE....Stupid people these days.

Most likely its a GXE with a GLE interior swap. The outside door handles will tell better. If its chrome its a GXE, if its the color of the car its an SE.

This happens quite often. I personally have an SE with a GLE interior.

Nah, the interior was cloth, no heated seats, only driver power seat. It was a GXE. I would love to buy it since it is a 5-speed, but I don't have the extra mula. But that would be pretty cool to switch everything over I have now onto it, and still get a 5-speed in the long run. But oh well....

Oh gosh, I'm so dumb. I swear I read yesterday 'WITH'. I look at it now and I see 'WITHOUT'. My applogies.
