What Is Ganna Make My Max Handle Better Eibach or H&R?

I have about $450, and i am lokig to upgrade my suspension. I have a 95 GLE and its so dam sluggish around corners, it sways and leans and wabbles. I need to do something to improve handling i am getting a front strut bar soon, but what would i need?

Eibach is best for performance but also stiffness (some call this harsh). When you're doing all this, don't neglect the RSB. I'll tell you from experience that without it, all the other mods almost aren't worth it.

Since you are coming from a GLE suspension, you'll probably be happy with the H&Rs. While not as stiff, and best handling as the Eibach's, they are a little stiffer than a stock SE susepnsion. Eibach's handle better than H&Rs, but sacrifice comfort somewhat. Not to say that H&Rs don't handle, they do, very well. H&R is the happy medium

That covers springs, you will also need shocks/struts. Look into the KYB AGXs. Very popular shock/strut. They're also adjustable. If you don't really need adjustability (that makes the KYBs cost quite bit more, too) look into KYB-GR2s or Tokico blues.

Also get an RSB, like the one from Addco. The FSTB,RSB, and suspension(springs/shocks/struts) will transform your car completely. Better get some driving gloves

If your going to get springs you'll also want to get shocks.
That will come to more than $450.
Get RSB first.

I would not recommend the Tokico blues. They are only adequate for OEm springs. Plus the Adjustable AGXs are only a little more money.

just get a front strut bar + rear sway bar then start saving up the $800ish you'll need to do your suspension the right way.

I'm running H&R and Toks right now. They've been fine for the past 20K miles. Don't have to be oem.

Handling mods on my 96SE:
H&R: ~$230 (Tirerack)
FSTB: ~$40 (Street Beat?)
RSB: ~$125 (Addco)

This is well within your budget of $450. But your GLE struts/shocks will probably need to go so you should start to save. My stock SE struts/shocks are still holding up pretty well after 15k miles with these mods.

But did you notice any difference between the Tokicos and stock struts? I sure didn't. I went from Intrax/stock struts to Intrax/Tokico, and the Tokicos did absolutely nothing. They felt a tiny bit firmer, but that went away pretty quickly. If you swapped from stock to H&R/Tok then most of the difference you feel is the springs.

I already have a FSTB. I have Progress Springs on the way which I'm going to use with KYB AGX struts. Should I bother getting a RSB after all of this is on??? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

My stock Tokicos were definitely softer, but then, my ride height was much higher, too. Also, I went from 100K mile oem Toks to new ones, it also could have been the feeling of worn out shocks/struts being replaced with new ones. And, you're right, the springs make the most difference in terms frimness/harshness.

If you are going to get springs also get struts. Trust the people here that have done it without the struts and later had to go back and do the same labor again. Remember you have to remove the struts to put the springs or the struts on so do both at the same time or it will cost you twice the $$ and time for the install.

IMHO the Best combo would be either KONI or AGX's/Eibach's/FSTB/RSB, but also do not neglect the tires you will want some sticky ones...

i have the H&R's and oem SE struts/shocks and the ride is a little harsher than stock gxe susp, but as far as performance goes, i'm sure that it's not top notch, but it corners great. i agree with the others with getting the rsb, i noticed cattmanperformance.com has a special on rsb's from addco, so u should check that out. i'm sure i might get flamed for saying this, but unless money is a HUGE issue with the fstb, get the stillen one. i've had both and could tell a big difference in quality. but it's all up to you, have fun, and go clean up at a few autocrosses!!

Would the valving in the stock shocks and struts be damaged by installing lower H&R's on my maxima? I don't wanna give up the nice smooth ride, I just wanna lower my Max a little. Having a rough riding max kinda defeats the purpose of the car in my opinion, but looking like a 4x4 is also kind of ghetto. Thanx
