windshield washer light makeover

i carefully took appart my washer lights (replacing LED, thought i would save the 20 bucks for new ones)

so i thought... i don't really like them chrome... and the chrome is wearing off on one of them.....

i sanded the chrome off with fine sand paper, and used high temp dark blue paint.

i think it looks good.... i may resand and try again (i could have sanded one of them better / smoother...

Hey i was just wondering by what process did you use to take it apart?
I have a pair myself for quite a while now. I've always wanted to take them apart to play around with, but i've found that mine were sealed pretty tight and the only way i would be able to take it apart is to break something. what brand is yours? i believe mine is blazing or something..i think...

mm... played maybe

but so aren't clear corners.. i bet more peeps got clear corners than washer lights...

i just like that they now have an additional "function" is all...

i don't really use them except to show to friends.

that's why i want them black or body color.. so it does not look like i have them right off the bat..

but i agree.. to each their own...

i was just posting so peeps that want to do this also can see someone did it just fine

I wired my nozzle lights to my blinkers and to a switch as well. I could turn them on and off at will and they only blinked in whichever direction I signaled. I also wired them so they only were on when blinking.

I mostly just used them in the rain or fog ... or as bait.

And I of course painted them bodycolored.

Ok ok ... enough with the 95emeraldgxe bashing. If you really don't want to see his posts anymore, just add him to your ignore list.

so... about my washer lights....

i repainted them.. they look much better...

does anyone know a good site for LEDs ?

i baught radioshack stuff (burned a couple before i remembered you have to use resistors when wiring) but they are just not as bright

also noticed ... how cheap these washer lights really are...

the clear plastic in one is clear on one.. but yellowish on the other... not instantly noticable.. but now that i know...

the lights don't seem to match.

know it's a cheap mod.. but you'ld think at 15-20 bucks they would use same quality plastic on both wipewashers

This forum's software could use some tweaking. Adding someone to your ignore list should make it so you don't even know a person exists. As it is, you still see posts, just not the content. And you still see the threads a poster starts.

Sorry, offtopic. Just a gripe I have.

Re: or...

It took me a long while to find a site that had 194 LEDs ... but as for replacing the LEDs inside the washers ... I have no idea.

If the ones at Radio Shack are no good, then it might be really tough to buy them someplace else. Most places like to sell little things like LEDs in bulk.
