For those of you that put on those H&R springs, how much firmer did the ride get... Meaning how much harder do you feel all the bumps in the road?

H&R says about 20-30% harder ride? Would you all say that is about accurate?

I'm not sure where they get the percentage but they are definitely firmer than stock. It would depend on which model car you have because the SE has firmer springs than the others. I have a GLE with over 100,000 miles and I was ready for a change. My car used to get really unstable if I was cornering quickly especially if the road was anything other that perfectly smooth. After installing the H&R's with AGX's and an Addco RSB (already had a Courtesy FSTB) the car's attitude is totally different and I have all the confidence I need even when I'm pushing it WAY more than I used to.

When I first installed them the ride was firmer than I expected but after driving with them for about six weeks they seem to have mellowed some. Even my sixty-something parents dont complain when they ride in it. I'm glad I didn't get anything firmer/lower.

It's really hard to put a number (%-wise) as to how much H&R are stiffer than stock springs. Good thing about progressive wound springs like H&R is that on straights (even not so good road surface) the ride is very close to stock. It gets noticeably stiffer as you corner harder.

installed my H&R's and AGX's about two weeks ago. this combo is definitely much stiffer than the stock '95 GLE setup. currently riding on the stock 15" rims with the 2-4 settings on the struts. love the way the car handles with this setup, but am now not sure what size rims to get without adversly affecting ride quality.

17" would be a smart choice especially if you don't wanna ruin your ride comfort completely.

My H&R and Tokico set up handles pretty good, but if you want a firmer ride I would suggest Konis or KYB AGX.

I have H&R w/ AGX and I think it's more accurate to describe the
ride as more controlled rather than more firm. You won't be
disappointed. My primary concern was making the ride too hard and
adding creaks and rattles. To the contrary, the ride is now
smoother with a quick, tight hit over anything but the most severe
bumps. I feel much more well planted with this set up.

With H&R and 1f/1r set up on the AGXs, the ride is smoother/softer
than my stock SE setup. You won't be disappointed with this setup!

Chris, if I remember correctly, weren't you the dude with the green GXE with leather interior (at like the first NorCal max meet, when we had like six cars there in San Jose)? If I also remember correctly, didn't you have Eibachs? So you know what a harsh ride feels like.

Ok, so maybe I have the wrong person...this meet was like 2 or 3 years ago!

Anyways, I have H&R/AGX and the ride is definitely more harsh than stock, but surprisingly bearable. I went from H&R/Tokico to H&R/AGX and the ride improved tremendously. The AGX's are stiffer, yet deliver a better ride. Amazing. I have my AGX set to 1 on front, 2 on rear (pretty soft settings) but the handling is still great and the ride is as good as it gets for a lowered Maxima.

Yes, that was me with the green maxima with brown leather...
I think we met at some lake somewhere near Los Gatos, CA.

I had Eibachs back then but I think I also did a lot of wrong things to make the ride harsher that weren't much the fault of the Eibachs..

I had really heavy 29LB 17x8" wheels and brutally stiff Yokahama A520 tires. And then I had those camber plates which eliminate the upper mount bushings to translate into more ride harshness. And the tokikos just couldn't keep the tires planted with all that upsprung weight so that made the ride harder and noisier too.


I have the KYB GR-2 struts now. I bought them before the AGXs were available. The GR-2s seem nice with the stock SE springs and the rears are reasonbly firm -- not mushy like the OEM struts are.

I see some other good comments about H&R with KYB brand struts so I think I'll try them out.
